New Vintage Releases Now Available | April 2018

We're excited to announce the release of our much-anticipated new vintages - 2016 Cabernets and 2017 Chardonnay.

Vintage 2016 was fantastic for our Cabernets, although it proved difficult for the Shiraz - a small part of the blend - with some early December and January rain that hindered some varietals, but greatly helped later-ripening varietals like Cabernet Sauvignon and our Petit Verdot.  Consequently, there is no Shiraz in the 2016 Cabernets blend, and the wine has the highest percentage of Cabernet it has seen for many years.

2016 CABERNETS, Hunter Valley - 86% Cabernet Sauvignon / 10% Petit Verdot / 4% Merlot     -     95 / 100

On the nose, red berry fruits of dark cherry with hints of white pepper, integrate with perfectly-balanced new and seasoned French oak.

The palate is medium bodied; red berry fruits dominate, with a perfect balance of fruit sweetness. Stylish, structured elegant tannin profile, and hallmark length of flavour.

2017 CHARDONNAY, Hunter Valley                                                                                                 -     95 / 100

White stone fruits on the nose, with hints of yeasty brioche, and some minerality.  Subtle, perfectly balanced French oak.

Palate is tight and of fine structure, with an incredible acid line running through the wine.  White peach fruits dominate, with hints of citrus. The perfect balance of fruit to acid on this wine, will see it have cellaring potential for 10-15 years+.

A couple of very good vintages on offer for this release, but production volumes are on the lower side and we expect they'll both sell out sooner than usual, so if you're interested in acquiring some from this release, I'd urge you to place your order soon - links are below or click on any of the BUY WINE buttons on this site.

From the Team to you, our very best for 2018, and I hope to see you in Cellar Door if you visit.  Myself, Pete Payard (Assistant Winemaker) and Roger Paterson (Cellar Door Manager), look forward to seeing some of you at the Folly throughout the year.

Cheers
