2017 Hill Block Release | Member Offer

I’m pleased to announce the (very early!) release of the 2017 Hill Block Chardonnay.  The Hill Block Chardonnay was first produced from the 2011 Vintage, and has been enormously popular, reflecting the same high standard and pedigree of the traditional Chardonnay (made here since 1974), but is uniquely different with its elegance and minerality as a result of the heavy clay soils on top of the Folly site.

There was no 2016 Hill Block Chardonnay produced as I didn’t believe the Hill Block and Traditional were different enough from that vintage, to justify a separate bottling.

The 2017 Vintage is a different story. Certainly, 2017 is one of the best vintages in recent times, and I believe this will also prove one of Lake’s Folly’s best vintages for cellaring. It is most unusual that we release a wine so young, so I would ask you to afford the wine time to settle down in bottle (at earliest mid-2018) before drinking. For those looking to cellar, you can do so with absolute confidence for a minimum of 10-15 years.

For those who prefer the Cabernets, I’ve also put together a special 6-Bottle Vertical Selection to tuck away in your cellar, which includes a bottle each of 2010 through to 2015 Vintages. Many of you will have most of these vintages already, but this Vertical Selection will make for an interesting addition.
